SEO services for small businesses that need enquiries, not rankings reports

This is for businesses that can wait a quarter for results and want the work planned from what their site already ranks for rather than from a keyword tool's wish list. It is not for you if you need enquiries this month — for that, paid search is the only honest answer — or if you are turning over under roughly ₹5 lakh a year, where the retainer rarely pays for itself and a good Google Business Profile will do more.

Planned from your data, not from a keyword tool

SEO services for small businesses usually begin from the wrong document. Almost every proposal starts with a keyword tool export and a list of terms with impressive search volumes and no relationship to what the site can realistically rank for. We start somewhere duller and far more productive: your own Search Console.

Search Console tells you which queries already show your pages, at what average position, and with how many impressions. Queries sitting at positions 11 to 25 are the cheapest wins available to any site — Google already considers the page relevant, it just does not consider it the best answer yet. Improving a page that ranks 14th is a fraction of the work of creating one that ranks nowhere.

It also tells you where demand exists that you have no page for at all. That gap analysis produces a content plan grounded in queries your domain is already receiving, which is a very different and much better-founded thing than a list of terms someone would like to rank for.

What the work actually consists of

Technical first, because content on a site Google struggles to crawl or trust is wasted effort.

01

Technical foundation

Crawlability, canonical tags, redirect chains collapsed to a single hop, XML sitemap accuracy, and index coverage errors cleared. Unglamorous and load-bearing — content published onto a broken foundation underperforms regardless of quality.

  • Single-hop redirects
  • Canonical hygiene
  • Index coverage
02

Structured data

Organisation, Service, Article, FAQ and Breadcrumb schema implemented and validated. Worth being honest here: most schema types no longer produce a visible rich result, but they do help search engines understand entity relationships.

  • Validated JSON-LD
  • Entity relationships
  • No false promises
03

Core Web Vitals

Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift measured on a throttled mobile connection, not on office broadband. Third-party scripts are usually the culprit, and usually removable.

  • Mobile-throttled
  • Script auditing
  • Measured, not guessed
04

On-page work

Titles, meta descriptions, heading structure and internal linking rebuilt around the queries each page can realistically win. Every page gets a single clear job rather than three pages half-competing for the same term.

  • One job per page
  • Cannibalisation fixed
  • Internal links
05

Content built on demand

Pages written for queries Search Console shows you already receiving impressions for, plus the gaps where demand exists and you have nothing. Depth over volume — one genuinely useful page beats six thin ones and carries no spam risk.

  • Demand-led
  • Depth over volume
  • No thin pages
06

Reporting you can act on

Monthly movement on the queries we are actually working, plus enquiries. Not a 40-page automated export. If a change did not work, it gets said and reversed rather than buried in an appendix.

  • Queries worked
  • Enquiries counted
  • Failures reported

What happens, and when

Google typically takes 8 to 12 weeks to re-evaluate a page that has been substantially changed or newly published. That is not a hedge, it is the observed reality of how re-crawling and re-ranking work, and any proposal promising movement in three weeks is either lying or planning to buy links.

Month one is almost entirely technical and produces no visible ranking change. Months two and three are where pages at positions 11 to 25 start moving, because those need the least work to improve. Genuinely competitive terms take six months and up, and some are not worth pursuing at all against national competitors with far larger domains.

Reading the report weekly on a small site will mislead you. Daily impression counts on a domain receiving a few hundred impressions a month are noise, and reacting to noise produces worse decisions than doing nothing. We set a 90-day review point and hold to it.

The first quarter, in order

STEP 01

Weeks 1–2 — Audit

Search Console and analytics reviewed, technical crawl run, cannibalisation identified. You get a written list of what is broken, ranked by what it costs you.

STEP 02

Weeks 3–4 — Fix

Technical issues resolved, redirects collapsed, schema implemented and validated, Core Web Vitals addressed. Nothing published yet.

STEP 03

Weeks 5–10 — Build

Existing pages at positions 11 to 25 improved first, then new pages for demonstrated demand gaps. Internal linking rebuilt as pages ship.

STEP 04

Week 12 onward — Review

First fair assessment against the 90-day mark. What moved, what did not, and what changes next quarter. Reading it sooner tells you nothing useful.

Where an SEO retainer pays for itself

It suits businesses above roughly ₹5 lakh a year in revenue with a service or product people actively search for, and enough patience to judge results at 90 days rather than 30. Below that revenue level, the retainer rarely returns its cost and a properly configured Google Business Profile will usually do more for less.

It suits businesses with something genuinely useful to publish — real expertise, real process detail, real answers to the questions buyers ask. Sites with nothing to say struggle, because the only remaining lever is publishing volume, and publishing volume without substance is the exact pattern search engines now penalise.

It suits businesses already running paid ads who want to stop renting every click. The two work well together: paid search tells you within weeks which queries actually convert, which is far better evidence for what to target organically than any keyword tool provides. That is also why we usually recommend running Google Ads alongside, not instead.

It suits badly anyone who needs enquiries this month. Nothing in SEO delivers inside 90 days reliably, and pretending otherwise sets up a failed engagement.

Questions before you commit

How much do SEO services cost for a small business?

A standalone audit is ₹14,999 and gives you a prioritised action list you can hand to anyone, including another agency. The ongoing retainer is quoted after that audit rather than before, because a five-page local site and a 200-page ecommerce store need genuinely different amounts of work. If your revenue is under roughly ₹5 lakh, we will usually recommend the ₹4,999 Google Business Profile work instead.

How long until I see results?

Month one is technical and shows no ranking change. Months two and three are when pages already sitting at positions 11 to 25 start moving, because those need the least work. Competitive national terms take six months and up. Google typically needs 8 to 12 weeks to re-evaluate a substantially changed page, and no amount of budget shortens that.

Can you guarantee first-page rankings?

No, and anyone who does is either buying links or picking terms so obscure that ranking first for them means nothing. What we commit to is working the queries where your site is closest to breaking through, reporting honestly on what moved, and telling you when a target is not worth pursuing against the competition holding it.

Why start from Search Console instead of keyword research?

Because Search Console tells you what Google already associates with your site. Queries at positions 11 to 25 are the cheapest wins available — the page is already considered relevant, it just is not the best answer yet. Improving one of those is a fraction of the work of ranking a page that currently appears nowhere.

Do you build backlinks?

We do not buy them, and we do not run private blog networks — both carry real penalty risk and neither is worth it for a business of this size. What we do is fix the things that make links worth having: genuinely useful content, correct technical foundations, and consistent business listings. Where links matter, guest contributions and client case studies are the routes we recommend.

Should I do SEO or Google Ads?

If you need enquiries this month, ads — nothing in SEO delivers reliably inside 90 days. If you can wait a quarter and want to stop paying per click eventually, SEO. Running both is usually the right answer, because paid search shows you within weeks which queries actually convert, and that is far better evidence for organic targeting than any tool.

What if my site is brand new?

Then expect a longer runway and start with the foundations: correct technical setup, a Google Business Profile, and a small number of genuinely deep pages rather than many thin ones. A new domain has no track record, and the fastest route to enquiries in the meantime is paid. We will sequence it that way rather than sell you a retainer that cannot perform yet.
